Safely removing invasive morning glory plants without harming a garden
Morning glories are taking over my beds. How can I stop them without hurting my lilies and iris?

Get out the scissors and start cutting. Morning glory can be cut at ground level and they will grow back. Cut them again once they re-sprout and then cut them a third time, and by the end of the summer the roots will have died out without any top growth to support them. This works best if you concentrate on the ground level stems, because once you make the cut the top growth will wilt and after a few days be easy to remove. Do not try to pull morning glory as this stimulates more sprouting. Any herbicide that kills morning glory will also damage the lily and iris.
Good luck and Keep Growing - but not morning glory.
