Help me preserve my late husband’s rose garden
My husband, who passed away two weeks ago, loved tending his roses. I do not know anything about roses but certainly want to learn so I can keep his rose garden beautiful. There are eight bushes. I do know he would cut them back sometime in March. Is there something I should be doing between now and then? Also when is a good time to transplant a rose bush?

First my sympathiesâmay you find some healing in your loss by gardening. I think March is a good time to cut back the roses and right now during the winter months you don't have to do much as the roses are dormant. When you see tulips in bloom that would be a good time to feed the roses an all purpose fertilizer. I use Osmocote and have good results. Roses are also thirsty plants so be sure to water during the dry months of summer. I will be here to help if you have any more care questions as the year passes by. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
