How to propagate root cuttings of a Persian Shield

Is it possible to take cuttings from my Persian Shield and root them in water for future plants?

Yes! The Persian Sheild (Strobilanthus dyeranus) is a shrubby perennial that roots easily in water or soft soil. It can be grown as a houseplant once rooted if you have a sunny window. Another idea is to move the plant to a protected area under cover and mulch heavily. They can survive a heavy frost. In late spring cut back the leggy growth and with luck the roots will have survived and you'll enjoy new purple leaves with the awesome silver and pink markings. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
