Trandescansia
Spider Wort- not sure I spelled the Latin name correctly. Lovely plant in bloom. I have had it for years and it has TAKEN OVER. It is everywhere. Being near some valued plants makes it difficult to spray. Nestled in Georgia clay makes it difficult to dig up. Any suggestions in how to eradicate/control this plant? I have removed the heads of them, hoping they don’t spread any more. But I truly have too many growing.

All plants need sunlight to grow so if you don't want to spray you can cover the plants with newspaper serval sections thick then wet the newspaper and add a few inches of bark mulch on top. This blocks out the light and kills the plants. You can also use a string trimmer to cut the plants to ground level over and over to wear out the roots and weaken the plants. Keep at it and you will get control of this enthusiastic grower. Marianne Binetti
