Transplant Azaleas
My plant is located in the Mid-Atlantic Region. May I safely transplant azaleas in May after they have bloomed?

Yes! Azaleas have a compact and fibrous root ball and can be moved anytime the ground is not frozen if you soak the soil well the night before then move to new spot into a hole with moist soil. Keep soil moist as new roots grow but not too wet. Plant at same level as before and do not smother in mulch. Just an inch of fine bark mulch on top of root but not touching the stem of the azalea shrub. Do not fertilize this spring. Let the plant settle in and adjust for a year. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
