Yes, pruning after blooming is the general rule of green thumb and if you remove no more than one third of a shrub it usually bounces back quickly. Most shrubs do great with little or no pruning but if the shrubs are growing too large for their space you may want to consider moving them to a different location. It will take annual pruning to keep these shrubs contained and most plants prefer to grow as nature intended - rather than recovering from constant hair cuts. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
