Mystery plant: Tall stalks, yellow flowers, big leaves
What is this plant? I got it from someone on Craigslist and it is in my garden in two different areas. It has tall stalks of yellow flowers. I like the leaves. It looks like a Ligularia to me. Maybe the Rocket?? It is young and it has not bloomed yet this year.

Thanks for sending a photo of the mystery plant. I believe you have a Ligularia. There are several species of this perennial plant but all like rich soil and lots of water. The more sun the plant gets the more water it will need and it is often grown close to a pool or in low, damp spots of a garden. In my garden ligularia can fall prey to slugs so be sure to use slug bait around the base of the plant in April and again in August to keep those leaves free of slug damage.
