How to Help Hydrangeas Bloom
My hydrangas die every winter. When they come back the next summer, they have healthy foliage but never bloom. Is there anything I can do to help them bloom..

You may need to blame the weather. Flower buds can freeze in chilly spring weather leaving only leaf buds. Do not prune your hydrangeas this fall and see if that helps. Most hydrangeas flower on two year old wood so pruning can prevent flowers from forming as well. Hydrangeas also bloom best when given at least a half day of sunlight. There are hydrangeas bred for cold climates called mountain hydrangeas with the trade name "Tuff Stuff" that are very cold tolerant for zones 5 and 6. Good luck and Keep blooming, Marianne Binetti
