using Osmocote when starting seeds

I make my own seed starting mix – peat moss, vermiculite and perlite. I notice that some germinating mixes in stores indicate that the mix contains a slow release fertilizer. Is one of the Osmocote products appropriate for including with a seed starting mix? If so, in what ratio? I generally mix 2-3 cubic feet at a time.
Thanks

Yes, you can add Osmocote to you seed starting mix just as the pros do. Follow the ratio on the package of Osmocote and add 3 tablespoons for the volume of soil that would fill a 2 gallon pot. The nutrients will be released slowly with changes in soil temperature as the seedlings grow. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
