Using potting soil over and over.
Your current Featured Article; Everything You Need to Know About Potting Mix, You state you use the potting several times, but everything I read says not to put the same family of plants into the soil more often that every third year. Examples are my favorite vegetable, peppers and tomatoes. I usually do plant them in pots, can I use the same potting every year.

Crop rotation is the practice of not putting the same plants in the same soil as they use up the same nutrients but when growing in containers you can reuse some of the old potting soil if you also add fresh fertilizer each spring. If you grow in large containers I suggest you loosen the old soil and remove any roots or old plants from last season. Mix in some fresh potting soil to help aerate the old soil that becomes compacted over the winter. Then be sure to add Osmocote each spring to replace the nutrients lost from last year's harvest. Do not plant tomatoes in the same soil if your crop suffered from blight or other diseases. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
