very hot porch needs potted plant

I live in west Texas- so it is hot! I have a porch that much of it is shaded by the roof built over it. Some of the porch gets sun directly on it and sun hits on the grass and sidewalk around the porch. I am telling you that so you understand how hot it is. The center of the porch and near my front door does not get sun. These are the areas where I would like to place potted plants.. Do you have suggestions of any that would survive in those conditions? I would like one also that is about 2 feet tall.

The potted plants that would do best on your hot but not in the sun areas are sedums, succulents, agave and yucca plants. The yucca plants can grow to 2 feet tall and now come in attractive yellow and striped varieties.  There is also a tall and narrow houseplant called a snake plant or sanseveria that can take the heat and grows easily to 2 feet tall. You can try other tropical plants that survive heat such as bougainvillea, lantana and potted olive and Italian cypress plants. Keep cool this summer, Marianne Binetti
