Marianne's Response

vfsurvivor’s Question

If I carefully remove all signs of horsetail from around a plant I want to move to a new property is it still possible to have it spread? In other words are there some tiny pieces you can’t readily see on the plant? Thank you for your help

yes - sorry to say a tiny bit of root from horsetail can gallop into a new location. But as long as you realize this and cut back the first horse tail sprouts if they dare to sprout in the new location you can control this nag of a weed. I got rid of a patch by cutting it to the ground every few weeks all summer long. Eventually the roots will starve out and wither way with no leaf growth to support them. Keep growing - but not horsetail. Marianne Binetti
