Sounds like you are looking for a small tree or shrub that is unusual and will take full sun. For late summer color I recommend the hardy hibiscus such \"Disco Belle\" with huge, vivid blooms. There are also some new magnolia trees on the market with improved blooms and disease resistance. You can find them by searching \"Tesselaar plants\" and the newest shrubs can be found at \"Proven Winners Shrubs\" where I would suggest you check out the sun tolerant Pee Gee hydrangeas or the beautiful oak leaf hydrangeas. You have a great opportunity to discover and plant some of the amazing new landscape plants available. Enjoy the journey, Keep Growing, Marianne Binetti
