First, avoid wisteria and ivy. I recommend the akebia vine as I use it next to my house and after 25 years it has not overgrown it's welcome. I do prune back this flowering vine every summer when it is done blooming. The leaves are semi evergreen so in your zone it would be green most of the year. It also has a slight fragrance.
