Water Plant

Hello, I just bought a water plant and I dont know what it is. Could you tell me what it is and what fertilizer you would recommend. I absolutely love it so I want to keep it alive as long as possible.
Thank you!

So sorry for the delay in answering you. I cannot see the top of the plant or the leaf shape from the image you sent but my best guess is that you have a form of dracaena or what is sometimes sold as "Lucky Bamboo" , but it is not a true bamboo. There is no need to fertilize this houseplant for at least a few months as it grows fine in plain water. In about six months you can add just a few drops of Miracle Grow plant food, the type you dilute in water first. Be sure to change the water in the container every week or so to keep it fresh and don't let the water level get too low. Good luck with your lucky bamboo - they are super easy to grow. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
