Marianne's Response

Weed?

My daughter has this in her yard and wondered what it is. I have seen the kind of plant before–I’m thinking it’s a weed. Can you help?

Yes, it looks like buttercup or Runuculus reptans a low grow growing perennial weed that likes moist, acid soil. It is best to dig it out with a sharp tool as this weed will spread and is toxic to wild life. To keep this invasive weed under control improve drainage and use dolomite lime to make the soil less acid. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
