Marianne's Response

What happened to the monarchs this summer?

I planted 10 pots full of blooming milkweed and waited all summer long for the monarchs. I saw only one or two in late April. Not one monarch caterpillar munched on my pots full of milkweed. I am so downhearted and wonder what happened???

You are not alone in noticing that there are fewer Monarch butterflies.  The migration numbers are down by 80% and scientists say it may be due to more insecticide use and lack of milk weed. You are doing your part to help so thank you. We will see if this winged beauty will be put on the endangered species list and if that will help. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
