The ingredients in Osmocote are listed on the package and there is no worries about using the slow release plant food on edible crops. It is a complete fertilizer that contains the "big three" nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium as well as some micro nutrients that plants need for optimum health.  The fertilizer is released as the plants need it so it is not wasted nor does it end up in the ground water.
