Well yeah for the spider! It is not a cranefly and my apologies for the misdiagnosis. It appears to be a flying ant or termite. The do not do much plant damage and birds and spiders usually keep them under control so this is not an insect to worry about. Just make sure they don't go burrowing into any wet or damaged wood of your home. Sometimes these flying critters arrive with loads of bark chips or wood chips. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
