What Should I Do with Euphorbia Hip Hop in Winter?

Gardening in Seattle Washington. I planted euphorbia hip hop in three large pots on my patio this past summer amongst geraniums and other colorful annuals. At the time I didn’t realize they were a perennial. Now that fall has arrived I question what to do with them. Will they survive on my southern patio with no protection from winter? Could I move them to a large pot on my covered front porch, north exposure? Will it lose its leaves come winter? I hope to be able to it enjoy once again come spring on my patio.

No worries. In my experience living in the same climate zone 7 as you, the Euphorbia is hardy in a container and will greet you looking great in the spring. Once May arrives you may want to cut back the old stems from last year to make room for the new growth pushing up from the base of the plant. Euphorbias can also be cut back to ground level if the foliage becomes leggy or black from freezing or disease. Enjoy this tough perennial for many years in a container. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
