When to Plant a Japanese Maple

I have a new garden space to fill. It’s a in a natural setting with stumps and such. There is a beautiful Japanese maple not far from it and does fantastic. The one we have stands alone and looks out of place, so another Japanese Maple may fit well and be my high point in the new space. I wanted to know if I can plant the tree this year? If so when? I have years ahead of me so I will most likely start small and let grow let it show…

Yes - fall is a great time to add trees and shrubs to your landscape and sounds like a lovely spot for a Japanese maples. Just dig a wide, deep hole and make sure to put a mulch on top of the soil. Water regularly until the fall rains begin. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
