Another tip is to make sure the plants have enough calcium for strong stems - it may be too late this year but for stronger stems next year use a fertilizer that has micronutrients such as slow release Osmocote plant food. Feeding plants with a quick acting high nitrogen plant food can also cause slouching and sprawling as the plants take in the nitrogen quickly and this causes fast, weak growth and stems that sprawl.
