Marianne's Response

Winter-damaged New Zealand flax

Is there any hope of salvaging my plants;? Only a few of the leaves are green and all are trying to be horizontal.
I fear if I trim off the brown damaged leaves, there will be no plant left

Marianne's Response

Go ahead and trim off the brown leaves. Once brown they will not turn green again. The pruning could stimulate new growth from the roots and a fresh start. If not, at least you won't have to look at an ugly plant while you wait to see if there is any life left. Sometimes plants that do not survive the winter are nature's way of telling you to visit a nursery and try some new plants. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
