Can u grow plants like lettuce etc. in the winter zone 5?

Yes. Lettuce, beets, kale, cabbage and other leafy cool season crops can thrive in the winter especially if you use raised beds and cover the crops with a protective agricultural frost protecting blanket. You can also use cold frames to protect crops in the winter. This is a great topic to explore with experienced gardeners in your area.
