Marianne's Response
Will caffeinated coffee grounds get rid of slugs in my garden?
Hi,
I think I heard it said that used coffee grounds (the caffeine ones) will keep slugs away. Is this true?

Yes, it is the caffeine that the slugs hate - they do want to remain rather sluggish you know. Spread a thin layer of used coffee grounds in a circle around slug magnet plants such as hosta and pansies and it will discourage the slugs. The coffee ground trick will not last long however. After several rain storms the caffeine will be washed out and the slugs could return. I have had good luck with a pet safe slug bait called 'Worry Free' that I use in April and August to keep the slug population under control.
Keep growing,
