How to care for a Crepe Myrtle tree with spent flowers in cooler weather

Do I have to cut off spent flowers or seed pods on a Crepe Myrtle tree? From Tacoma, WA.

You do not have to remove the spent flowers on Crepe Myrtle trees, but it is done to improve the looks of the plant and to conserve energy, so the tree will not put wasted energy into seed production. If you are fine with the growth rate of your tree, no need to feel guilty if you let it go natural. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
