Marianne's Response
wstrkmp’s Question
Hi Marianne: We have a lilac tree and flowering crabapple in our Federal Way garden, both of which send up lots and lots of suckers from around the trunk. I cut them down as close to the ground as I can, and they just sprout back up again. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Yes, there is a product sold at garden centers that you can paint onto the bark of these trees and it will prevent the suckers from sprouting. It is a rather new product and so I have not used it myself but I hope you will give it a try and let us all know what you think. Look for \"Sucker Stop\" at a large home center store or nursery that sells trees. Keep growing - but not suckers, Marianne Binetti
