Marianne's Response

WyldBill’s Question

OK
here’s my second attempt at getting my question answered, no response at all to my first attempt. Anyway, I live just below Lake Walker and Built a Poly dome greenhouse 12x 40 this year. My problem is that my peppers are getting 2-3 feet tall and starting to bloom, and then the leaves curl down and all the blooms burn off, any little fruit is all scabby, I only threw a few of the Alaska fish pellets on them once. I have peppers in the ground and in pots and they are all doing the same thing? I have a couple in too small of pots and they seem to be doing ok? Can you help me? WyldBill

Marianne's Response

Oh Dear - I do remember answering this question last week - and you even sent a photo. The answer from me was posted on August 19 so I hope you can read the answer this time. My guess is that you are overwatering as peppers need heat and good drainage. This would explain why the peppers in small pots are doing okay - they drain sooner in small pots and the roots are less likely to rot from too much water. Scabby fruit is also a sign of poor drainage, wet soil and a resulting fungal infection. Peppers do love hot, dry weather. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
