Osmocote for potted orchids
Can Osmocote be used on potted orchids? Most of mine are in 6″ clay orchid pots. Can you give me suggestions as to how much and how often to use if okay?

Yes! Osmocote is perfect for orchids because it releases nutrients slowly just the way they would be fed in the wild. Do not overfertilize your potted orchids. I suggest you use just half of one teaspoon once a year in a six inch clay pot. If you see signs of white salt buildup on the rim of your clay pot that is a sign that you are overfertilizing your orchid plants. The white powder is a build up of salts. A good drenching of the soil every few months will help to rinse out any salt that may accumulate on the clay pots. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
