Yellowing Leaves on Rose of Sharon?
Last week my potted Rose of Sharon leaves started turning yellow. I water it at least every other day, but I don’t water it heavily. The popular answer is that it isn’t draining well, but the top 3 -4 inches soil is dry per my moisture meter. It is in full sun on my deck so the deer can’t eat it. I bought it in spring 2020 and has been in the same planter from the start. How do I fix yellowing leaves on my Rose of Sharon? What are your suggestions?

Yellow leaves on a potted plant are most likely too much water or in a pot with small drainage holes. Second most common reason is dry soil. This plant is sensitive to poor drainage so perhaps it is sitting in drainage water or the drainage hole is blocked. Use only potting soil in containers not dirt from your garden. You may want to unpot the plant and see if the roots are sitting in damp soil. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
