I stop adding fertilizer to tender plants including roses in late summer so they will better be able to toughen up for the winter. I use Osmocote around my dahlias in the late spring and then some Miracle Grow in mid summer if they are not producing lots of growth. If you are getting lots of blooms late in the summer no need to add more fertilizer. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
