Title:
How I Started Gardening &the Garden in My Roots

Author:
Annmarie Mones

Description:
Being decendants of farmers, it is no surprise my parents always had a garden. This lead to my growing up pulling weeds, picking fruit and vegetables, and watching mom do her canning. When I moved into this home where I am, I immediately needed to start gardening, you could say it was in my roots. I have several gardens here, but my favorite is my kitchen garden, right across the driveway from my kitchen. I raise all my own vegetables and herbs, making food prep very easy. I just go out and pick the items I need for what I plan to cook for meals. In off seasons, I have winter storage vegetables, items I have canned, frozen, or dried. As a special bonus, I transplanted soapwart from where my great grandmother originally planted some on the farm, so I can make my own body wash and shampoo bars. It is a wonderful feeling to continue a family tradition, continue with something I have always loved, and provide fresh food for myself and others.
