Title:
Lifetime learner

Author:
Lisa Short Bull Gerth

Description:
Well, I started gardenening on the 4th of July 2013. My boyfreind's daughter was kind enough to let me use her garden. She said, "stuff doesn't usually grow in my backyard but if you want to try it, knock yourself out. It might be too late," she added. Well, since it was late, I used a post hole digger to dig holes for everything. I planted a small garden in less than 1 hour. By fall, I had corn on the cob, lettuce, radishes, beans, tomatoes, and several herbs. This year, I rented a small space at our local community garden. Well, as you can see by my photo, I've never planted pumpkins before. Not realizing the power of my own green thumb, I now have more than need and will be able to share with lots of friends and family. The best part about my garden is sharing it. I have a couple of lawn chairs up and it's now a place to pray, meditate, visit, or just be. The corn growing here is actually from the Cherokee tribe and the seeds were from the original seeds of the thier ancestors. A true blessing a friend gave me once. Now they will bless others.
