Baking soda to kill weeds?

We are moving pile of wood chips, in grown with morning glory roots to large space between trees. Ground is cleaned out, covered in layer of wet newspaper. Can I use baking soda to prevent new morning glories from getting a start in the new area? It seems like it should work, thank you.

Something is eating my unbloomed Roses Of Sharon flowers

Hydrangeas

My hydrangea is well established; however, the flowers only partially bloom. The bud begins to blossom with the small blue flowers and then, stops flowering so it never has the full flower completed. Can you offer any advice as to what I need to feed this hydrangea to make the blooming complete? Thanks so much, Cindy
