Stacking pumpkins and gourds in pretty bowls is always a favourite table topper, but stick around for a myriad of ideas for a gorgeous Autumn display.
Fabulous Fall Centerpiece Ideas!
Fall centerpieces using live plants can be created using seasonal flowers like pansies or mums, cut branches, pinecones, or container plants such as sedum, mosses or ornamental kale. Even succulents, seemingly a dichotomy to fall, can be crafted into modern arrangements as we head toward the holidays. Combining these with other fall elements like gourds, pumpkins, pretty coloured leaves or candles make an eye-catching display.
Using Cut Foliage and Flowers
Branches: Options abound! Consider clipping branches with colourful leaves and place them in vases, arranging them by colour for a blended or Ombre look, from yellow to orange to green. For a dinner table, use a long, low container so conversations aren’t inhibited.
Bouquets: Asters, African daisies, mums or other fall flowers can be combined into a beautiful mixed arrangement. Pansies and calendula are great options for a long-lasting display since they thrive in cold weather.
Backyards: Are a perfect place to gather interesting foliage, branches, grasses, wildfowers, seed heads and the like. Think about using a floral form, floral frog, chicken wire, etc to create height and architecture in your container then arrange pieces from largest to most delicate.
Potted Plants
Getting creative with potted plants, mums and foliage and vibrant containers are three easy ways to tackle fall arrangements. First, potted plants like pansies can be added to a tray or basket right in their pots for a collected, sophisticated look. It’s always fun to use a hollowed out or ceramic pumpkin to gather a more traditional bouquet. Old ceramic turkeys can often be found at thrift shops or eBay and make a charming vase for a generous fall bouquet.
Mums
The quintessential flowers of fall! Choose one or three or five potted mums (GrowJoy offers unique choices online) and centre them on a table or buffet. Autumn Beauty Perennial Mums are a gorgeous, warm autumn orange, and perfect for a display featuring mums. Try surrounding them with other fall plants, gourds, acorns, pinecones and the like. Other decorative ornaments like candles, lanterns complete the look.
Jewel-Toned Containers
To create vibrant fall flower arrangements, select flowers featuring rich, saturated colours mirroring gems like amethyst, ruby, emerald and sapphire. By combining these striking shades along with contrasting colours, textures and shapes, you can achieve designs that are both deeply “Autumn” and dramatic.
