What to do with my dahlias

Posted by AM Dinwoodie | August 16, 2024

This is the third year in a row that my dahlias are growing and budding very slowly. Right now in mid-August, some of them have small buds--none have bloomed, and they're all way shorter than they should be. I've been covering them in plastic and compost to overwinter the last few years; I uncover them at the end of April/ ...

Getting rid of moss

Posted by Bob Paul | August 16, 2024

I don't know if this question is within your realm: So here goes: does Osomocote have a product to help me rid moss growing in my Bermuda lawn? If not, can you point me in the right direction?

Too much nitrogen

Posted by Linda Crain | July 3, 2024

My cucumbers are growing like crazy in the greenhouse, but there are no flowers. I thought they might have had too much nitrogen, but I don't know what to do about it. What next? I also have some yellow squash there with flowers and even fruit, but not growing quite so fast. Maybe I put too much of something on ...

Golden Breeze Zebra Grass

Posted by Elaine Wowk | June 30, 2024

Hello, I bought this grass last fall and planted it in an area that I thought was sunny enough (part shade) and it was growing, but it is yellow. Not enough sun or too much water. I just moved it to a more sunnier location. Thank you in advance for your answer. Elaine

Poor looking Heather

Posted by Lorene Johnson | June 23, 2024

Our house has a lot of Heather planted in the front of it and some looks dead and no foliage or flowers there. What can I do to bring it back to life? Some of it's green and okay, but other parts look dry and dead. It's white in color.

voles

Posted by dede terns- thorpe | June 18, 2024

I've had voles and moles around for years. Now, I realize what people were complaining about with them. I'm having a terrible problem with voles, and I have a huge number of hostas. They're eating the roots of the hosta as it comes out of the ground. Wondering, if this will kill the hostas? I'm so upset, any ideas?

tuberous begonias

Posted by Sandra Schumacher | June 13, 2024

I started my tuberous begonias too early, apparently. Due to weather they are still in little peat pots. One has grown to be about 18-20 inches tall. Do I plant as is or cut back? Thank you.

Hardy cyclamen

Posted by Pat Hergert | June 9, 2024

My Hardy cyclamen have died back for the summer but the large corms keep popping up to the surface. Should I leave them alone or push them back under the surface? I’m worried that they will get too wet with summertime watering or that they might get raked up by mistake. Thank you!
