Title:
Family Tradition

Author:
Jessica

Description:
My 8 year old daughter and I started gardening together about three years ago. I knew nothing about gardens, but we needed a calm outside activity since she was due to have brain surgery and had some heavy restrictions on activities. The following year, after many surgery complications, we found ourselves gently putting in another garden. She loved sitting in the grass and digging holes, planting seeds, and picking vegetables when they were ready. This is our first “normal” summer in awhile and it’s the first year she’s planted her own garden. It’s become a tradition and she’s learned so much about patience and nurturing through gardening. This year she grew sunflowers too and they’re over 8 feet tall! She’s very proud of them!
