young peach tree
Posted by melinda marashi | June 21, 2019I was given a 14" peach tree today. Can I plant it on the south side of my house? Do I need to fertilize it when I plant it? If not, then when. My other peach trees bear fruit, get spots and exude jelly, and all drop to the ground despite many different treatments! They areon the east side.
Basement vs Inground
Posted by Amanda Croley | June 21, 2019I rent, so I have potted all of my plants. I have a large basement that stays cool (not freezing) in long Michigan winters. I understand plants need to endure “winter” to come back. Might I house them in basement over winter, or is this not enough? If not, my idea is to dig a very large hole in yard ...
How to repot begonias
Posted by Lisa Wachtl | June 21, 2019My husband brought tuberous begonia nonstop- 2 hanging planters that are so full of beautiful blooms now, I believe they need to be replanted. I have never cared for begonias. Some of the leaves are kinda black in spots, and I have removed the dead stuff. I’m not sure if there are more than I plant, should I separate them ...
Henry Lauder Walking Stick
Posted by Mark Willen | June 21, 2019Help! My Walking stick has suddenly grown sick, with several of the leaves turning brown around the edges. I purchased it from a nursery (2 ft high) a little more than a year ago and it has been doing well until this week. I am in Maryland and the weather over the last 10 days has been very humid with ...
4variety cherry tree
Posted by RileyRoss | June 21, 2019My cherry tree is 4-6 years old and has never produced more than 10 or so cherries. I do struggle to keep canker disease from killing the tree by digging them out, but I don’t think that affects the tree’s producing. I get lots of flowers in the spring, but they dry up and fall off. Even some fruit does ...
Japanese privet
Posted by Lois Mcmullen | June 21, 2019My privet seems to be dying. Getting crunchy. I fertilized it ten days ago. It’s bee getting plenty of water. Has standing water most of day after irrigation runs in the morning. We live in the desert. Did I burn it with fertilizer? Too much water?

Hardy Hibiscus Tree Dropping Seed Pods on Lawn
Posted by Cathy Hawkins | June 21, 2019We have a beautiful hardy hibiscus tree growing in the corner of the back yard. Every spring it drops seed pods in the grass below it. The seed pods germinate in the grass and produce MANY new plants. This spring was especially wet and the amount of new hibiscus seedlings is crowding the grass out under the tree! In year's ...
