Is it a good idea to remove excess mulch?

We have added wood mulch every year for 20 years to the plants growing across the front of our home. The mulch has gradually turned into 6-8 of dirt that is infringing on our sidewalk. Why is a Pandora plant not flowering?

Why are the blossoms falling off squash plants?

The blooms appear to be bitten off squash plants. I don't think animals are biting off squash blooms because the blooms are still laying on the ground. Would a bug nip them off, and if so, what kind?

Why does my pepper plant have purplish stems and why do the leaves grow in weird shapes?
