Why won’t my Esperanza plant bloom?

We planted an Esperanza plant at the beginning of spring or early summer. It was 12 inches tall and now it is 6 foot with no blooms. What might be wrong?

Growing Australian astroturf

In yet another attempt to get something to grow between the stones of my full-sun patio, I've ordered Scleranthus biflorus (Australian astroturf) seeds. Their arrival has taken longer than anticipated. Do I need to wait for spring to plant them, or can they be sowed when they arrive, assuming it's before the ground freezes?
