Blossom end rot on container tomato plants

I live in so LA. I am growing container tomato plants on the patio. They are doing well, except tomatoes. Golf ball size (many) are one by one turning black from bottom (opposite stem). Is this a disease, worm or what?

I have strawberry plants that I covered with netting to keep critters away. Do the flowers need a pollinator such as bees and insects or does the (self pollinate) take care of that?

Could a harsh winter kill my mature fig trees?

I have two fig trees in my back yard, 5 and 3 years old. I don't see any leaves so far this season. Is this normal because of the harsh weather we had? And if so, what do I need to do? I live in Montgomery County, MD.

My vegetable garden has ants and bugs, how can I get rid of them? I purchased a bottle of Ortho flower and vegetable insect killer. Is that a safe solution, I am a first time gardener.

Weedkillers to use on established flower beds

Please advise if there is a chemical I can use in established flower beds to keep weeds from growing. Have black cover and 2" of mulch on them and we constantly are fighting weeds. Due to surgery last fall, did not get beds put down for winter, and this spring they are covered in the loveliest little blue flower "weeds". ...
