Follow up to bulb lasagne

Posted by Ann Mayer | June 13, 2023

I filled two pots last fall with your recipe for “bulb lasagna.” They were lovely, but now are pretty ugly. What do I do with the wilted stems of the tulips and daffodils? Can I cut them back and plant something else in the pots for the summer and fall? What should I plant, and will the bulbs bloom again ...

Posted by Georgeanne Samuelson | June 11, 2023

Why do the nascent blueberries on my plants just dry up instead of turning into nice juicy blueberries. I have 3 blueberry plants and they all do this?

Hi Marianne, I recently sent a picture --or so I thought-- of the palm in question. Apparently it didn't go through. Trying again. Thank you so much for your time and information, not just for me but for everyone who has a question! Suzette Bogrand

My question isn't plant related but at that seminar, there was a brochure on garden gear, esp. gardening coveralls ...

Invasive monsters

Posted by Susan36 | May 26, 2023

I have two invasive plants I would like to eliminate from my garden. It was suggested I just learn to live with the bracken ferns. And I have, but now they have invaded everything…the vegetable garden, herb garden, cutting gardens and the lawn. Is there a way to get rid of them? The other monster is the California cucumber. They ...

Posted by Bob Paul | May 20, 2023

I just planted some Magic Carpet Spirea for the first time (in half wine barrels). An internet search says to fertilize them in the early spring and mid-summer using bone meal or rock phosphate. Since I am an Osmocote homeowner, my question is: Does Osmocote have a fertilizer I can use?

Wounded tree

Posted by Amy Douglas | May 11, 2023

We have an Autum Flame Maple we planted 14 years or so ago to shade our patio. A couple of years ago we noticed bark falling off the trunk and a branch. The pictures illustrate. The branch is about 4 inches wide and the trunk about 12. Is this something to worry about and if so can we do anything ...
