When to prune Leyland Cypress

Why is my potting soil heavy and wet?

I bought the Osmocote Potting Soil and it was so heavy and wet. Just like mud. I planted a pot and now it is just dry chunks. Is this normal for this potting soil?

Companion planting with Lily of the Valley

Is there anything I can plant in this strip next to the patio that will co-exist with the Lily of the Valley that I cut down each summer? I would like it to hide the dying leaves, so I may leave them in place. Is this possible? Or cut them off, leaving some other existing plant. Thanks!
