STORY: My parents have always been amazing gardeners, and I got a black thumb. Since I got married my husband has been able to help me keep plants alive so this year we started our first veggie garden. We have peas, carrots, lettuce, zucchini, and in pots we have herbs, beans, and tomatoes.

STORY: In 2014 I lost my brother who was just a couple years older than me, shortly after his return from deployment in Afghanistan. From 2014-2018 I was severely depressed. I had lost my best friend and brother. During that time in 2016, my husband and I had another child together, but that pregnancy was really hard on my body and I ended up in the hospital for 3 months straight, at one point having to choose between my life and

STORY: I was feeling a bit discouraged and for so long I admired the Santa Rita prickly pear. I decided to turn a yard full of weeds into a beautiful landscape to have this beautiful plant to look at. It's Beauty inspired me and when my first bloom appeared, I felt like a proud parent. This is my first bloom. It became more than just wanting the plant, through the process, it opened my eyes to other beautiful plants and the

STORY: My 8 year old daughter and I started gardening together about three years ago. I knew nothing about gardens, but we needed a calm outside activity since she was due to have brain surgery and had some heavy restrictions on activities. The following year, after many surgery complications, we found ourselves gently putting in another garden. She loved sitting in the grass and digging holes, planting seeds, and picking vegetables when they were ready. This is our first “normal” summer

STORY: Being decendants of farmers, it is no surprise my parents always had a garden. This lead to my growing up pulling weeds, picking fruit and vegetables, and watching mom do her canning. When I moved into this home where I am, I immediately needed to start gardening, you could say it was in my roots. I have several gardens here, but my favorite is my kitchen garden, right across the driveway from my kitchen. I raise all my own vegetables

STORY: How I started gardening? That’s an easy answer! One flower, one bush, and one tree at a time! When I look back 26 years ago after buying the house I am still living in, I can see all the colors of a garden where there was none before. I wanted a simple garden of flowers to enjoy while sitting in my backyard. With the help of my late husband Bob we started with bushes in the front of the house

STORY: My Granddaughter Mylah is my shadow. My passion is gardening. Needless to say it’s hers now also! She jumped right in before age 1 and was getting dirty! Helping me. She planted her own pot garden this year at her home. I also helped her do a Save the Bees campaign and we planted wildflowers

STORY: I moved from Alberta, Canada to Georgia USA in 2002. I left behind rich black soil to be greeted with hard, nutrient-poor clay. I spent YEARS killing all manner of plants. This year I buckled down and took Master Gardener training, and I did my first soil test, and planted fruit trees (june berries, paw paws, blueberries, figs, mulberries) and put in this raised bed garden!
