STORY: In 2014 I lost my brother who was just a couple years older than me, shortly after his return from deployment in Afghanistan. From 2014-2018 I was severely depressed. I had lost my best friend and brother. During that time in 2016, my husband and I had another child together, but that pregnancy was really hard on my body and I ended up in the hospital for 3 months straight, at one point having to choose between my life and

How I Started Gardening &the Garden in My Roots
Votes:
STORY: Being decendants of farmers, it is no surprise my parents always had a garden. This lead to my growing up pulling weeds, picking fruit and vegetables, and watching mom do her canning. STORY: I would say my love of gardening started with my grandma Floy. Traveling to Amherst, WI, to visit my mom's mother included harvesting from her large garden and enjoying her flowers. Always helping her make raspberry freezer jam as a child and watching them can their produce was a favorite of mine. The harvests, recipes, and outcomes were fun and delicious! My love of gardening still continues to this day!

Janes garden

STORY: I bought a new house on 4 acres this winter. The deceased owner, Jane, created a wonderland. But in the middle of our deep freeze this winter, I couldn’t tell what was going to become of the bare dirt I saw. It didn’t take long to see the beauty. Flowers everywhere, as well as rhubarb, asparagus, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, grapes and peach and pear trees. The land for which I am now a steward, used to be rolling pastures for
