Primula japonica

Posted by Marilyn Todt | May 14, 2020

Dear Marianne, I am cultivating a creek bed with clay soil. I live in SE Iowa zone 5a. It floods in the winter and dries to moist in the summer. I am considering lining the edge of the moist creek with primula Japonica. I have read they are hardy to zone 4 and tolerate clay soil. Will they work in ...

Cow manure

Posted by Kathleen Magnuson | May 14, 2020

I just found out that my husband added fresh cow manure to my vegetable garden when he tilled it last week. I'm ready to plant but does that mean I can't use it this year? Is there any way to fix that?

We applied the product in mid March in North Texas. So far we have a beautiful green plant but no evidence of any buds. The hydrangea gets morning ...

I've looked for cutworms, but haven't seen any. There were some gnats. What can I do to make sure I don't lose the rest of ...

HELP

Posted by Catherine Geston | May 11, 2020

I'm hoping someone can offer ideas what kind of plant this might be. I ordered what I thought were garlic seeds and well, I'm not an expert, but this doesn't look like garlic to me. Whatever it is, it's doing great though 😁

Fiberglass planter

Posted by Connie Campos | May 11, 2020

I have planted these vegetables in an old trough. It’s aluminum on the outside and has a fiberglass liner. I planted these peppers about 6 weeks ago and they don’t seem to have grown. Is it the fiberglass liner trough that is affecting the growth or is it perhaps the Ph level of the soil, which I bought at a ...

Yellowing and browning of shishito peppers

Posted by Toma Bowen | May 11, 2020

I’ve googled everything and tried what I thought was right from the info. The pepper plants aren’t growing that fast, and everything else around them is exploding. They have yellow leaves with little brown spots, and I have one pepper out of two plants. I’ve used potash, coffee grounds, and some early worm casing from my worm compost. They live ...
