How to interplant moss and grass in a lawn

Posted by Larry Bargmeyer | February 25, 2014

Our front yard is always about 2/3 moss and 1/3 grass. My father (one of your groupies) has always recommended I get rid of the grass and save the moss. How do I do that? What do you suggest I use to promote healthy moss and make the grass go away? And what time of year is best to do ...

Posted by | February 15, 2014

I became a true believer in lime for tomatoes when I saw how it improved my crop the past couple of years. Thanks! I also plan to grow cucumbers, beans and a few varieties of squash this year. Would I be smart to use lime on that portion of the garden as well?

How to train a rose up a tree trunk

Posted by ejmensh | February 15, 2014

Hi Marianne - for the last five years I have successfully grown two climbing roses 'Zephirine Drouhin' up into a mature maple tree. I have been using two cotton ropes encircling the tree for the canes support. I am concerned this may be harming the tree. Using nails would be less constricting but I am unsure if it is better ...
